Losing Jason has left a deep ache in our hearts. He was a friend we knew well from Currie Park, but he was more than that. His recent act of bravery, trying to save a woman from drowning in the Intracoastal Waterway, shows us the true hero he was.
Jason was a unique person. He loved reading and having meaningful talks. He always kept watch when we were sharing food to make sure everyone stayed safe. He was also skilled with his hands, fixing my bike numerous times without expecting anything in return because we shared meals with him, and he appreciated that.
His last act, jumping into the dangerous waters to rescue someone he didn’t even know, is what defines a hero. Not everyone would have the courage to do what he did.
Jason’s life teaches us an important lesson: heroes come from all walks of life, even among those who are judged or forgotten by society. He showed us that bravery and kindness have no boundaries.
His legacy will endure as a testament to the courage that resides in the most unexpected places. His memory will forever be engraved in our hearts as a true hero who selflessly risked and lost his life to save another. Rest in peace, dear Jason. Your heroism and kindness will never be forgotten.
Live Generously
